This Privacy Policy describes how BetaGains ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). BetaGains is operated by Onsightful LLC. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
By using BetaGains, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address - Used for authentication, password recovery, and important account notifications
- Password - Securely hashed and stored; we never have access to your plaintext password
Climbing Activity Data
When you use the App to track your climbing sessions, we collect:
- Session information - Start/end times, gym location, session notes, effort ratings, and quality scores
- Climb details - Climb type (boulder/sport), grades, completion status, attempts, falls, wall angles, hold types, and movement styles
- Session goals - Your selected training focus (strength, power, endurance, technique, fun, or mixed)
Wellness Data
If you use our wellness tracking features, we collect:
- Daily wellness metrics - Sleep quality, general fatigue, muscle soreness, finger soreness, stress level, and motivation (all on 1-5 scales)
- Wellness notes - Any optional notes you add about your daily condition
Gym Information
When you add climbing gyms:
- Gym details - Name, city, state, and preferred grading systems
- Home gym designation - Which gym you've marked as your primary location
Photos
If you attach photos to climbs:
- Climb photos - Images you upload are stored securely and associated with your account
- Photo metadata - File size and type for storage management
Usage Analytics
We collect anonymized analytics to improve the App:
- Feature usage - Which charts you view, session durations, and climb counts (aggregated, not personally identifiable)
- Performance metrics - App load times and sync performance to identify issues
- Onboarding progress - To improve the new user experience
Device and Technical Information
- Device timezone - To display dates and times correctly in your local time
- Connectivity status - To manage offline/online sync functionality
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the Service - Store and sync your climbing data across devices, calculate progress metrics, and generate training insights
- Authenticate Your Account - Verify your identity and secure your data
- Improve the App - Analyze usage patterns to fix bugs and develop new features
- Send Important Communications - Notify you about account security, password resets, or critical App updates (no marketing emails without consent)
- Provide Customer Support - Respond to your questions and resolve issues
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in these circumstances:
Service Providers
We use trusted third-party services to operate the App:
- Supabase - Cloud database, authentication, and file storage (Supabase Privacy Policy)
- PowerSync - Offline synchronization service (PowerSync Privacy Policy)
- Mixpanel - Analytics platform for aggregated usage data (Mixpanel Privacy Policy)
These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government regulation, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
Business Transfers
If BetaGains is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or prominent notice in the App before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Data Storage and Security
Where Your Data is Stored
- Your data is stored on secure cloud servers provided by Supabase (hosted on AWS infrastructure)
- Photos are stored in Supabase Storage with encrypted transfer
- Data is synced locally to your device using PowerSync for offline access
How We Protect Your Data
We implement industry-standard security measures:
- All data transmitted between your device and our servers uses TLS/HTTPS encryption
- Passwords are hashed using secure algorithms (bcrypt via Supabase Auth)
- Database access is controlled by Row Level Security (RLS) policies ensuring you can only access your own data
- Regular security assessments and monitoring
Data Retention
- Active accounts - We retain your data as long as your account is active
- Deleted data - When you delete climbing sessions or wellness entries, they are soft-deleted and permanently removed after 30 days
- Account deletion - When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days
Your Rights and Choices
Access and Export
You can export your climbing data at any time through the App's Settings menu.
Correction
You can edit or update your climbing sessions, gym information, and wellness data directly in the App.
Deletion
You can:
- Delete individual climbs, sessions, or wellness entries within the App
- Delete your entire account by contacting us at nick@betagains.com or through the account deletion option in Settings
Account Deletion Request
In compliance with Google Play requirements, you can request complete account deletion:
- In-App: Settings > Account > Delete Account
- Web: betagains.com/delete-account
- Email: nick@betagains.com
Upon deletion request, we will:
- Permanently delete your account and all associated data within 30 days
- Remove your photos from cloud storage
- Send confirmation once deletion is complete
Children's Privacy
BetaGains is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at nick@betagains.com, and we will promptly delete such information.
International Data Transfers
If you are accessing the App from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:
- Posting the updated policy in the App
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
- Sending an email notification for significant changes (if you have an account)
